Fundraising Sponsored Abseil – Making it Special
Saturday & Sunday 11th/12th July 2009

What is it?
The Widehorizons Outdoor Education Trust is offering you the opportunity to abseil 23 metres or 75 feet to raise money for charity.

Where & When?
Saturday & Sunday 11 & 12th July 2009
- Eltham Green School, Middle Park Avenue, London, SE9 5EQ
Time - 9am to 5pm each day

What is the Abseil Raising Money for?

  • Special Schools and Disabled Groups
will be raising all their money for the ‘Aiming Even Higher for Disabled Children Appeal’. This is a Trust appeal and over the next two years will be transforming the provision and facilities at all of Widehorizons Centres to make them fully accessible to all. There will be a presentation of our ambitions at the Abseiling Event

  • Adult and Family Teams - (5 participants per team)
will be raising the first £125 of money per team for the Margaret McMillan House ‘Making it Special Appeal’. Margaret McMillan House is a very special place built in the 1930s for deprived city children.  The Trust has just invested £1,000,000 in renovating Margaret McMillan House. This appeal is to raise funds to make what we have done special. Details of this scheme will be available at the Event. All team money raised over £125 will contribute to the ‘Aiming Even Higher for Disabled Children Appeal’.

  • School and Youth Groups - (5 participants per team)
will be raising the first £125 of money per team for the Margaret McMillan House ‘Making it Special Appeal’. All team money raised over £125 per team will contribute to the school/youth group funds for sponsoring children to go on outdoor adventures.

Will it be safe?
Full public and products liability insurance is held, and the trust is the approved provider of Outdoor Education to the London Boroughs of Greenwich & Lewisham. All abseil staff are qualified and experienced. Safety equipment such as harnesses and helmets will be provided. An Adventure Activities licence (AALA) is held. We have held previous successful abseils held here and at Riverside House in Greenwich.

What we will provide!
A Sponsor Pack (see left to download forms) which includes an event booking form, a sponsor form master copy, publicity posters, consent forms. Oh and the abseil!
