Forest School

Forest School

Forest School uses the outdoor environment to help children learn. Through regular visits to a Forest School they are encouraged to develop independence, improve language and decision-making and raise their self esteem through small achievable tasks. Forest School now happens regularly at many schools and early years settings in Greenwich and Lewisham.

Sessions at Forest School are always child led to accommodate different learning styles and needs - the adult’s role is facilitative.

At the ECS we have been involved in Forest School since March 2006 and as staff we are trained and experienced Forest School leaders. The ECS works alongside our training provider, F.S.L.I. and also Greenwich and Lewisham education authorities to develop Forest School throughout both boroughs.

What do we offer?

  • Accredited training for teachers to become OCN Level 3 Forest School Leaders.
  • Taster Forest school sessions at the Centre with experienced Forest School Leaders
  • Weekly Forest School sessions with the same group lasting half a term
  • A progression of Forest School provision throughout the Trust from a day visit to a residential experience.
