Outdoor Education Courses  - Mountain Walks

Suitability: All Age Groups Duration: Full day
The Centre is surrounded by hills and mountains, the most popular being Cadair Idris which at 893m (2928ft) presents quite a challenge.

Idris was a Welsh Giant,
and Cadair means Chair.
Cadair Idris = Idris' Chair!

There are many different routes to the summit, but whichever route is chosen the climb usually takes between 3 and 4 hours, and the descent 2 to 3 hours.

Cadair Idris has many mountain lakes in corries carved out by glaciers, the most stunning being Llyn Cau half way up the mountain with it's impressive back-wall, Craig Cau, rising 1000ft from its western shore.
The whole of the southern side of the mountain is a National Nature Reserve providing opportunities for studying the alpine flora and fauna as well as one of the finest examples of a glaciated landscape that Wales has to offer.
