Adventure Outreach and Forest School in Crystal Palace Park and Beckenham Place Park

Your Local Scheme (Free taster sessions available – see below)

The Wide Horizons Adventure Outreach programme has come to Crystal Palace Park and Beckenham Place Park, bringing classroom subjects to life in a practical setting and increasing children’s understanding of curriculum subjects. As well as subject focused adventures we are also offering the Wide Horizons Forest School programme – a minimum six session learn through play programme targeting each child’s personal and social development and love of learning whilst also linking to the curriculum.

By taking children outside and providing an experience which is adventurous, child-centred and fun, the Adventure Outreach sessions can play a key part in adding value to the teaching inside the classroom with the aim of increasing a child’s attainment and motivation to learn.

Wide Horizons is looking for new schools to engage in this programme

Each Adventure Learning Outreach session is two hours and fits into the school day, utilising the whole of both parks and can be tailored to add value to the Geography, Science, English and Art & Design curriculum being taught in the school. Sessions are coordinated by a Wide Horizons Adventure Outreach Tutor who will work closely with you to build links to the school’s curriculum and class projects and to customise sessions wherever possible.

The programme is part funded by the London Borough of Bromley meaning we are able to offer a subsidised cost to schools to enable as many children and schools to engage in this programme. The aim of the programme is to work progressively, adopting a layered learning approach over the agreed period of outreach.

Keen to meet and Chat?

To help you better understand and experience our programme, we offer a free taster session where our Adventure Outreach Tutor will come to your school to meet you and your Teachers. They will outline the programme, discuss our Adventure Learning  programme, and also arrange a time to deliver a half-day session whether in the park (preferable as the park’s unique features are the focal point for many of the sessions) or at your school.
