Jurassic Outreach

Simon Penn is the Wide Horizons Earth Science outreach tutor. With a specialism in palaeontology, Simon has travelled the world excavating dinosaurs and other fossils. Based in Swanage on the Jurassic Coast, Simon is constantly making new discoveries and researching the UK’s prehistoric past.

Since starting a career in earth science education Simon has taught over 20,000 students in the UK ranging from KS2 – University. Specialist areas of knowledge include geology, geography and palaeontology.

Our Jurassic outreach can be delivered in the classroom or at one of the amazing beaches along England’s first natural world heritage site, the Jurassic Coast. Sessions will link to key topics outlined in the science and geography national curriculum.

We offer a range of half and full day activities from organised fossil hunts to hands on class based adventures where Jurassic Coast fossils and dinosaurs come in to your school. Inclusion is at the heart of what we do: all ages, abilities and key stages are welcome.
